For a Wired/Ethernet Connection

This video shows you how to transfer your design files from your Chroma software to your embroidery machine via ethernet cable.

Troubleshooting Steps for Wired Connection:

Please follow the instructions below...

  1. Check the physical connection between your embroidery machine and the router/computer. Make sure the cable is NOT loose by unplugging and plugging the cable back in on both devices.
  2. Some computers cannot support a direct connection with the machine. Plug the ethernet cable into the switch or router and not into the ethernet port on your computer.
  3. Make sure the embroidery machine is picking up an IP address, which is located at the top of the control panel screen next to the Ricoma logo. Make sure that this IP address matches the IP address for the machine in Chroma.
  4. To make sure the devices can communicate with each other, test the connection by opening the Command Prompt app on Windows or the Terminal app on Mac.
  5. On Windows, search "Command Prompt" in your search bar next to the Windows icon and click on the app when it appears.
  6. On Mac, click on the Search Tool (the magnifying glass) on the top right corner and search “Terminal.” This should open the app to test the connection.
  7. Once in the app, type "Ping” and your IP address to test the connection.
  8. You should receive a response in the app.
  9. If you receive a failed response or no response, something is obstructing the connection or there may be an issue with the connection between the computer and machine. This could be due to the firewall.
  10. Depending on your Windows computer, you may need to disable or adjust the settings of your firewall. This includes Windows defender, McAfee, Avast, etc.
  11. If it is not an issue with the firewall, we recommend consulting a computer or network professional to proceed.

  9. Depending on your Windows computer, you may need to disable or adjust the settings of your firewall. This includes Windows defender, McAfee, Avast, etc.
  10. If it is not an issue with the firewall, we recommend consulting a computer or network professional to proceed.
