When your heat press won’t count down, this means the sensor is not engaging properly.
If your heat press won’t stay down this is because the tension of the tension knob is too tight.
The video below shows you how to adjust the tension knob of your heat press along with the sensor.
Machine Overview: Black Tension Knob and Sensor
In order to resolve this issue with your heat press, it’s important to identify two very important parts of your machine: the black tension knob and the sensor.

Follow These Steps Below:
You need to adjust the tension knob, followed by the sensor.
- Loosen the tension knob so there are seven threads/lines showing.
- Pull down the arm so the heat press is closed and find the piece located at the front of the heat press head.
- Move the piece so it engages with the sensor.
- Loosen the screws to move the piece to activate the sensor. Once you know which position the piece needs to be in to activate the sensor, tighten the screws so it stays in that position.
- You can tell the sensor is working if the timer counts down when the heat press is closed.
